A member of Grace-St. Luke’s since 1973, Julie served the parish as Director of Christian Education for 12 years before joining the bishop’s staff as Director of Congregational Development for The Diocese of West Tennessee. She also spent 12 years on the diocesan staff. She has recently been appointed to the Province IV (southeast U.S.) Network for Congregational Development and Evangelism.

Julie returned to work at GSL in 2003. “It was has been a gift to return to the parish I love. In addition to assisting the rector, I work with our outstanding Welcoming Ministry and handle church records. I am passionate about the challenge of welcoming and orienting the guests who come to GSL. My continuing love of adult learning has kept me involved with Education for Ministry. I’ve served as the mentor of the parish’s group since 1990. EFM is a distance learning opportunity offered by The School of Theology at Sewanee. I encourage anyone interested in graduate level study of the Scriptures, church history and theology to contact me about joining EFM.”

Julie and Bill Denman have been married 40 years; the family includes their son, John, and his wife, Joy – and two dogs.
